Best Safest Orlando Hair Extensions

Hello,

My name is Nima and I have been doing hair extension in Orlando, FL at Shala Salon & Day Spa for over 7 years. I get many people asking me questions about hair extensions, what's the best method? What's the safest? Which type gives the best results? and ....

I decided to start a blog and share my knowledge and experience over the years so maybe I can help a few people here and there in making the right decision when it comes to hair extensions. I have seen some very damaging methods used today that customers are not aware of and end up in my chair for a correction work.

One of the safest methods available today is the bead hair extensions. They are very safe if done with a person who has experience in doing this type of hair extension. The reason why I believe this is one of the safest ways with minimal damage is because there is no glue used to bond the hair.

If you look at the picture above, you will see how the extensions are attached. There are tiny beads with a safe plastic layering on the inside that the extension and your hair are looped through the bead and clamped at the end.

The beauty of this method is that it is maintainable, so after 6-8 weeks you can come back in the salon and have them pushed up. They are very sturdy and will not fall out! I have clients which are wearing the same hair for over 3 years now without any problems or damage.

Questions to ask to determine if a stylist is experienced with this method

How long does it take for a full head of extensions?
When I first started it would take me about 5-6 hours for a full head. As I got experienced I can do a full head in 2 hours. So that would give you a good idea about their experience.

How much of my hair will you use with each extension?
If not enough hair is selected for each extension it will put too much pressure on your hair and over time it will cause breakage. The rule of thumb is to select as much hair as the extension. So if he/she is using 1 gram extensions then he/she would need to select no less than 1 gram of your own hair to have good support for the hair extension.

How many colors do you usually use for the extensions?
If you look closely at the color of your hair you will see 2 to 3 different shades of the same color in your hair. When doing extension it is crucial to pay attention to the undertone of your hair color. I usually use up to 3 different shades of the same color for a very natural look.

How often should I come in for maintenance?
The rule of thumb is to come back in for maintenance once the beads are about an inch from your scalp. The reason for this is when the extensions get longer they will put more stress on the hair that the extension is attached to resulting in breakage.

Glue extensions are extremely damaging to your hair because the extension get further and further away from the scalp making the hair that the extension is attached to vulnerable. After you blow dry and brush your hair you put more pressure on your actual hair causing it to break.
